Missouri Job Center’s Branson office reopens

Posted online

For the first time in over three months, the Missouri Job Center has opened its Branson office to the public.

The Branson affiliate office at 2720 Shepherd of the Hills Expressway restarted operations today after temporarily closing March 20 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Job Center officials said employees have continued to assist the public by phone or email during the temporary closure.

Safety measures, such as implementing social distancing and plastic keyboard covers, have been implemented in daily operations to protect visitors and staff at the Branson office, said Sally Payne, interim director of Workforce Development for the city of Springfield, in a news release.

“Our reopen policies and procedures have been approved by the state of Missouri to ensure that all safety measures meet guidelines,” she said in the release. “Since we share space with the state Department of Workforce Development as well as other partners, we will have enhanced signage pointing people to where they need to go.”

Floor guides are in place to allow for social distancing while people wait to be served, in addition to increased sanitation efforts.

It’s the second office reopening for the Job Center, following the Springfield office at 2900 E. Sunshine St. on May 28. Both offices have occupancy limits, with up to 40 allowed in the Springfield center and 15 in Branson, said Job Center spokesperson Katherine Trombetta.

The Job Center’s north-side office at 1443 N. Robberson Ave., in the Cox North tower, remains closed without a reopening date set, Trombetta said.

The agency provides job assistance and paid skills training, assists with job searches and posts job openings for employers, among other services.
