MSU secures 7-figure donation

Missouri State University received a seven-figure donation that earned a former student naming rights on campus.

Philanthropist Ann Kampeter pledged the funds for the MSU Professional Building, home of the McQueary College of Health and Human Services, according to a news release. The 609 E. Cherry St. building has been renamed the Ann Kampeter Health Sciences Hall.

“Ann spent many hours in classes and visiting with faculty in the Professional Building when she was a student," said Brent Dunn, executive director of the MSU Foundation, in the release. "Now, she wants the physical surroundings to assist students in their education."

With the donation, the foundation has exceeded $205 million in gifts toward the school's $250 million Onward Upward capital campaign, Dunn said this morning.

Kampeter's donation will go toward renovating the former bank building to add a student access and advisement center, update its Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic, and build extra meeting and study spaces, according to the release. The exact amount of the donation was not disclosed.

Kampeter, parish secretary for St. Stanislaus Church in Wardsville, received her bachelor's degree in communication sciences and disorders from MSU, according to her LinkedIn profile. She's also a member of the MSU Foundation Board of Trustees.
