Architecture
Dake Wells Architecture Inc. added Jessica Wood as a design associate. She earned a bachelor’s in architecture from University of Arkansas and most recently worked at Polk Stanley Wilcox Architects in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Banking and Finance
Guaranty Bank added Logan Mathias as a senior network engineer. He has 10 years of information technology experience, working various roles for JMark Business Solutions, Jack Henry & Associates and Bass Pro Shops. Mathias has an associate of applied science degree in computer network systems from ITT Technical Institute.

Education
The Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals named Ozark High School Principal Jeremy Brownfield as Exemplary New Principal and Ozark Junior High Assistant Principal Philip Link as Assistant Principal of the Year. The Exemplary New Principal Award is open to administrators who have completed no more than three years on the job. The Assistant Principal of the Year is open to administrators in an assistant principal position for three years or more.

Evangel University honored Nathan Nelson, professor of English and chair of the department of humanities, with the 2020 E.M. and Estella Clark Award for Excellence in Teaching, Scholarship and Service. The award is the school’s top faculty honor, selected by a committee from student, faculty and staff nominations. Nelson, who retired this summer, spent 32 years with Evangel.

Evangel honored Luke Gibbs, associate professor of English, with The Orville & Jewel Mills Young Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching, Scholarship and Service for 2020. The award recognizes professors who are less than 45 years old. Gibbs has worked for the university since 2004.

College of the Ozarks students Lindsay Hemann, Dakota Cartwright and Grace Carr placed in the top 10 in the national Phi Beta Lambda virtual competitions. Hemann, a junior marketing major, took eighth place in Information Management & Business Communication. Cartwright, a junior business management major, took seventh in Contemporary Sports Issues and ninth place in Sports Management & Marketing. Carr, a junior business management major, took fifth place in Administrative Technology and seventh place in Job Interview.

Municipal
The Springfield Police Department promoted 10 officers: Lts. Eric Reece and Culley Wilson to captains; Sgts. Tonya Price, Mark Foos, Jeremy Anderson and Dustin Martin to lieutenants; Cpls. Jennifer Sandage and Chris Rasmussen to sergeants; and officers Brandon Penrose and Scott Hill to sergeants.

The Missouri Municipal League named the city of Nixa as the winner of the Innovation Award for the fourth year in a row in the large city category with populations of 15,000-30,000. Nixa was recognized for its crime prevention social media campaign, known by the #9pmRoutine hashtag.

Nonprofit
The Stone County Developmental Disability Board appointed to full-time executive director from a part-time role. Thomas has 10 years of nonprofit experience, most recently with Developmental Connections and the Taney County Board for the Developmentally Disabled as director of marketing and resource development.

Camp Barnabas added Bernadette Losh as director of health services. She oversees the medical care standards for Camp Barnabas and Barnabas Prep, and recruits and trains essential medical volunteers and seasonal staff. Losh previously served as chief clinic officer with Ozarks Community Hospital for 25 years.

United Way of the Ozarks allocated $22,000 to Community Partnership of the Ozarks’ Merciful Nights campaign. The funds, donated from BKD LLP’s special employee giving campaign, support emerging community needs, including sheltering, from the COVID-19 pandemic.
